Modesty: A, B, or C?

Modesty is an attitude of the heart. It is a change that occurs in one's life that transforms a person's outlook on life. This 'change' happens after Jesus Christ has been allowed full entrance and ownership to the individual's mind, body, and spirit. This 'take-over' renews our mind and leads us into the knowledge and belief that we are dead and our life is hid with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3); we are not of ourselves but we have been bought with a high price at the cost of another's life (Jesus Christ) and now we live after the leadership and authority of the One whose breathe gave us life.

Modesty is not merely about wearing long skirts and turtlenecks as a ‘church uniform’ but it is about surrendering one’s life to Christ. By which our minds become transformed and NOT conformed to the things of the world (Colossians 3:2). Modesty is the renewal of mind by the wisdom of God to yield to His command of separation in dress living in a corrupt society. Modesty is about the brightness of God’s love being shone in our hearts to change our lives and renovate our minds to seek and to please Him in all of our ways. Modesty is presenting ourselves to the world in a manner that is inwardly AND outwardly different. Modesty is obeying the command to cover our nakedness and to dress in a manner that brings glory to God and not to ourselves (Exodus 20:26)“…come out from among them and be ye SEPARATE, Saith the LORD”-2 Corinthians 6:17

There are three categories of Modesty:
(A.) Views Modesty as Within AND Without. These are those who embrace modesty as a lifestyle and no matter where they find themselves the change that has occurred inwardly will always reflect on the outside. They are easily recognizable as children of God. "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid"-Matthew 5:14

(B.) Views Modesty as Within NOT Without. These are those who have gotten a change of heart through the Power of God's Word, but refuses to move to the next level of their relationship with God in obedience to God in the area of modesty. They dress anyhow they want and claim that Christianity is an attitude of the heart only. "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven"-Matthew 7:21; "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?"-Luke 6:46

(C.) Views Modesty as Without NOT Within. On the other hand we have those who have not gotten a change of heart through God's Word; yet "obeys" God's standard of modesty out of necessity only when they go to the house of God but fail to recognize modesty as a lifestyle. "Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away"-2 Timothy 3:5.

If you can identify yourself as a member of category A, I rejoice with you! Praise God for your life. But perhaps you fall into category B; I pray that God will grant you perfect understanding and enlightenment of His Word in regards to modesty. If category C is where you can see yourself, I pray for genuine conversion because it is only after which your inward attitude will match your outward.

So which category can you 100% identify with? A, B, or C?

Are you like the King's daughter - all glorious within and without? May God perfect us to fall into category A at all times in Jesus' name! Amen.

This understanding can only be achieved with a spiritual surgery of a new heart "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh"-Ezekiel 36:26. Jesus Christ died to save you from sin, sickness, heartache, pain, depression, lust etc. He says come unto me all who are heavy laden and I will give you rest. He gives rest from pain, uncertainty, addiction, and beyond! He gives peace that passes all understanding and total freedom from sin as He presents you faultless, spotless, and blameless before His holy Father whose eyes cannot behold iniquity (sin) Habakuk 1:13

The confession of "I believe in God," "I go to church," "I do give to the poor," "I am a good person" is not enough. You must conform to the Word of God and be changed from within by God's Word. You want to go to heaven? Then, You must be SAVED. Salvation is the gift of God that gives us hope and sets us FREE from the bondage of sin. Salvation is our ticket and passport to the Eternal dwelling of God. Romans 10:9-10 reads: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart. Will YOU give Him a chance? Please visit this page to begin your conversion journey if you have not yet been translated from the Kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of His dear Son (Colossians 1:12-13).

Have a blessed day!
