Her Modest Apparel: 'Standing on Holy Ground'

"...the place whereon thou standest is holy ground."-Exodus 3:5

The presence of the Lord is a 'Holy Ground' and calls for children of God to appear in holiness of heart and in holy garments.' What type of garments do you wear to the House of God? Is your attendance in the House of God an opportunity for you to flaunt your 'goods' and become a distraction to those who've come to hear Word of God? Is your dressing to church intended to cause the minds of men to wander and indulge in ungodly thoughts while in the house of God?

Have you decided to show a little skin so that that godly brother of your interest can take a glance at you? Actually, true godly men avoid women who dress provocatively, and whose motives are to entice them; they know that such is the suggestion of the devil to cause them to sin and so they pray fervently against those women in their fellowship. True godly men desire women that are modest in character and in dress because to choose the way of modesty is to be Christ-minded which is wisdom. So, if you are one of those 'sisters' who is yet to walk on the path of modesty and Christ-likeness, I pray the transforming power of the word of God will translate you from the kingdom of darkness to that of Light, and totally conform you to the image and mind of Christ in Jesus' name!

Holy garments are those that properly covers the delicate parts of our body - indicating its sacredness. Something that is precious is appropriately preserved, carefully cared for, and is not given to any ordinary person. A special gift is often well thought about and given to a well deserved person. Our bodies are sacred, special, and a gift. Please, let us not cheapen it by carelessly advertising it for all of humanity to behold. I pray we will allow Christ to help us preserve and protect our bodies and at His perfect time lead us to give it to the man or woman who is well deserving of it in Jesus' name.

A genuine Christian will understand that putting on 'holy garments' is not a temporary activity for Sunday mornings, or days of going to God's house, but that holiness is a lifestyle - that every day, you are conscious that God is constantly watching you from His throne and expects that as His child, you are holy in mind, and in thought as well as in dress as you step out of your home and into the world. I pray the Lord will give us grace and burning desire to put on holy garments and to be thoroughly holy at all times in Jesus' name. For, "...holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord."-Hebrews 12:14. "...Be ye holy; for I am holy."-1 Peter 1:16

  1. Hi Charity. I just came across your blog and posts on modest dressing, and I must confess..I have been blessed and inspired at the same time. You've got really great fashion ideas to portray modesty in a woman's dressing. The issue of immodest dressing is a serious plague in our generation, not just in the western world, but also, in Africa. Not just amongst unbelievers, but in Christendom as well. And then, it becomes somewhat difficult for Christian ladies, especially youths, to dress in an 'acceptable' manner in public. They are ridiculed for being overtly religious in their appearance. But you see, we as Christian ladies, can actually look good and dress in a commendable manner. Such that even those who dress immodestly will wonder how we look so beautiful and radiant.
And yes, you are so right when you say that beauty emerges from the inside and is reflected on the outward appearance. Even Jesus said that it is what comes from inside a man that defiles him (Mark 7:20 NLT), in this context, that makes him look ugly OR beautiful, as the case may be. So if we can soak ourselves in the Word of God, seeking to becoming more like Christ day by day, and dressing up with the right motives as you've stated, it will definitely radiate on our outward looks. I mean, the glory of God. Cos it can't be hidden. We are the light of the world (Matthew 5:14), the light to shine in today's darkness. And show others the WAY (the only Way in Christ:John 14:6) through our godly example.
I apologise for the length of this comment....so sorry, but I really do hope this encourages you, cos I appreciate the work God is doing through you. And I hope to see more posts on this blog, to encourage ladies like me out there who are surrounded by immodest fashion but really want to do it the modest way.

    GOD BLESS YOU SISTER!!!
    Love, from England.

  2. Hello sis Esther,

Praise God! I definitely was encouraged by your comment! In fact, it came in such a perfect time! I am glad to know you have been blessed and inspired by the blog.

I encourage you to keep Daniel 1:8 dear to your heart, as you desire to serve the Lord not only in your heart, but in your apparel. It takes determination of heart to serve and honor God in our lives despite the wickedness that so surround us. I pray the Lord will give us an unshakable conviction of faith in Him in Jesus' name.

By the grace of God, there will be more post as the Lord inspires and directs. I pray the Lord ministers to you greatly through the posts that are shared here.

How are you spending the weekend? You are very welcomed to join us at Deeper Life Bible Church online as we celebrate Jesus Christ this weekend: http://www.deeperlifeonline.org/events-2/power-cross/

    Have a blessed weekend!

  3. Oooh, just seeing your reply. However, I do hope it was a splendid weekend. Sure it would have been, no dull moments in the presence of God, you know.

By the grace of God, we shall all stand strong till the end. And as for Daniel, ooh, he is such a great example of today's youth. Tempted to stray away from their God in a modern age, with strange, seemingly appealing and modern practices. It must have taken strong determination; and those his 3 Hebrew brothers were awesome too. I really admire their faith&determination for God's will to be done. I guess it must have been inspired by their revelation of who God is.
I pray that God gives me, and everyone of His children such a bold&resilient heart to stand for Him in the face of compromise.
(Sorry I can't seem to keep my comments short, pls bear with me #puppyface).
    Stay blessed sis.
