Her Modest Apparel: "...for glory and for beauty"

"And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty"-Exodus 28:2

God instructed Moses to make 'holy garments' for Aaron his brother, a priest of God. Added to the instruction was that the garments were to be beautiful and glorious. This teaches us that as Christians we are the priests of God, and of such we are instructed by God to put on holy garments that represents His holiness. They are to be garments that cover our nakedness; thus it visibly set us apart from the attire of the people of the world. There should be a difference between our dress and the people who have not known God via acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. In addition, our garments are to be to the glory of God - as in our garments should reflect the purity, humility, and simplicity of Christ and simultaneously be beautiful. Ultimately, our attire should draw people's attention to God which gives Him all the glory!

Modesty does not imply frumpy, oversized, boring looking clothing. In fact, our modest apparel should be creatively beautiful and tasteful. We are daughters of a King, and we ought to represent our divine royalty in our apparel! We should feel comfortable combining different colors and textures in a manner that it communicates a godly cohesion. In an effort to do this, we must ensure that we are fully being led by the spirit of God so that 'self' does not begin to dominate our dressing and styling.

The above is a typical outfit for Sunday church service. On Saturday night as I was contemplating on what to wear to church on Sunday, I received the inspiration to pull out these pieces and put them together! I loved the end result! I inserted the dark pink blouse into this light pink v-neck knitted sweater. I like combining light and dark hues of the same 'family.' The dark pink blouse has frontal buttons but it didn't have buttons higher up in the chest area, and as a result I inserted a black high neck tank-top as you can see above for modesty. I then tucked the tank, blouse and sweater into this wide-waisted pleated maxi skirt. Next, I added this burgundy pointy-toed strap flats and put on this rounded hat with a side-flower. I finally topped the whole outfit with a brown tote in which I placed my bible, folder, etc. This is a great outfit for the beginning of the Fall/Autumn season when it isn't so cold out.

Outfit breakdown:
Hat- gift
Dark pink blouse- someone purchased it for me, I am not sure where, but it might have been from Sears Department store

Lately, I have a love for high-waisted skirts especially with a wide waist, pleated skirts, and pointy-toed low heeled shoes. More of these may be represented in future posts :).

I pray this outfit idea inspires you towards desiring and putting on holy garments and seeking the Lord help you to be creative so that your dressing maintains the glory and beauty of a daughter of the most High King.

Can you tell that Fall/Autumn is my favorite season? I 'come' alive when the leaves begin to turn color and shed ;). Beyond that, it is a season of reflection, thanksgiving, and anticipation of the oncoming new year. I pray the Lord will give us a heart of gratitude toward him in reflection of all the marvelous and wonderful things He has done for us in all areas of life, safely end the year with us, and joyfully usher us into the new year.

Have a blessed end of year season!
