This week (July 6, 2021- July 9, 2021), we were encouraged to share our experiences as it pertains to our body image. Some of us shared how we perceived our body image and how our perception of our bodies have evolved over the years.
Yet still, there is room for improvement. It is true that all of us need to be reminded and assured that our bodies are not a mistake. God is a perfect creator and we must rely on His word to enlighten and encourage us to have the confidence we need in the bodies we are in.
Here are a few points to remember about our bodies as brides of Christ:
➡️GOD CREATED OUR BODIES UNIQUELY AND INTENTIONALLY AND OUR BODIES ARE VERY GOOD!
”I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.” Psalm 139:14 AMP
“And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good…” Genesis 1:31 KJV
”For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art]…” Ephesians 2:10 AMP
➡️OUR BODIES ARE GOD’S TEMPLE AND WE MUST KEEP IT HEALTHY AND HOLY
”Do you not know and understand that you [the church] are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells [permanently] in you [collectively and individually]? 17 If anyone destroys the temple of God [corrupting it with false doctrine], God will destroy the destroyer; for the temple of God is holy (sacred), and that is what you are.” 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 AMP
”Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship.” Romans 12:1 AMP
➡️IN GOD’S SIGHT, WE ARE FLAWLESS, COMPLETE AND WHOLE
”Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.” Song of Solomon 4:7 KJV
”And in Him you have been made complete…” Colossians 2:10 AMP
The next time you feel down about your body or someone makes fun of any part of your body, look yourself in the mirror and remind yourself of the three truths above. You are created by a Great God, your body is His Temple (your body is good enough for Him to dwell in!), you are flawless in His sight!
See you for part 3 in our Self Esteem series!
God bless you!
Have a blessed day!
